Technology... Help or Hurt?

These days technology is a very important part of our lives. During the last century technology has advanced a lot. Some say that it is good for society because of all the different ways we can connect with people and find out news. Others say that it hurts society because many kids are wasting their lives behind computer screens. Instead people should be outside interacting with their friends and getting exercise. In my opinion, I believe that technology is good to a certain extent. It is fine to go on a cell phone and look at twitter every now and then, but not every five minutes. Technology needs to be limited so that people can still have fun outside of the cyber world. Please feel free to comment your thoughts below.

Enclave by Ann Aguirre

Enclave is a futuristic book of a world full of zombie-like creatures called "freaks". The only humans left live in small underground civilizations with a series of tunnels to get in and out. The people are forced to choose between three different jobs in life; hunters, builders, or breeders. As a child, or "brat", they train to be the best they can at one of these jobs. Deuce was born to be a huntress, and she spent her first fifteen years preparing for it. She became a huntress at age 16 when she was also given her name, "Deuce". Her partner was chosen by the leaders of the community and they gave her Fade. Fade is seen as sort of an outcast of the community because he was not born there. Unlike the rest of the citizens, he showed up out of the tunnels. No one knows Fade's true story except for Deuce, who finds out later in the book.

Deuce and Fade's job as hunters is to provide meat for the community by searching through the tunnels. Their adventure starts when they disobey orders during one of their expeditions. The leaders of their community punish them by sending them on a long journey to a distant civilization in need of assistance. Along the way they run into many freaks and dilemmas that leave the two closer than ever. The only difference is that the freaks that they encounter start to get more and more intelligent with their attacks. Will they reach the other civilization? Will they bring them the answers they are looking for? That's up to you to find out...

I highly recommend this book to any adventure lovers out there. The way Ann Aguirre described each fight scene was amazing. It's one of those books that are hard to put down.

Does rapping count as singing?

There have been many great rappers throughout history. Some of which include; Eminem, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Jay-z, 50 cent, and many more. I believe that all of these people are great musicians and deserve a lot of respect. Although people may say that they are just saying words and not singing, it takes a lot of skill to do what rappers do. They are not just saying words, in order to make a rap the words need to flow in a rhythm and make sense. In many cases, their raps tell a difficult story that they went through in life. Eminem is a great example of how he puts all of his emotions into each song. Rappers should be considered singers in my opinion and I hope people understand the difficulty of their work.

Here is a short trailer of what life is like for Deuce in the book Enclave, by Anne Aguirre. She was born a hunter and worked hard as a child to be one of the best in her line of work. At the age of 16 she was given her name and does not want to soil it. Her life turned into a difficult journey and she ended up meeting a young man along the way; Fade. I will post another blog about the book, just wanted to show you this cool video. :)

Who is the best point guard in the NBA?

There will always be the debate over who might be the "best" point guard in the game of basketball. When talking about the subject there are many different stats that need to be considered. The best in the league hang at the top of the list in points per game, assists, shot percentage, and steals. No one will ever be as great as Allen Iverson, but there are a few point guards that might give him a run for his money.

When healthy, I believe that Derrick Rose should be seen as the best point guard in the NBA. Not only is he a great shooter, but he can also go inside and dunk over anyone who stands in his way. Rose won the Rookie of the Year in the '08-'09 season and the MVP of the league in the 2010-2011 season. These are two historical awards to win and it takes a great point guard to win them.

Chris Paul is also someone to bring up in debate. Since joining Blake Griffen and the rest of the LA Clippers, he has been lights out. Not only does he average 17 a game, but he also averages 9.6 assists which is incredible.

Kyrie Irving is a young point guard in his second year in the NBA. Last year he won Rookie of the Year and is looking like a top notch guard this year. He averages 23 points per game and in my opinion has the best handles in the NBA. Not to mention the fact that he won the three point contest this year over guys like Steve Novak and Stephen Curry.

It is a tough decision and I will leave the debate up to you guys in the comments below.
